TG Innerselves seeks to provide a safe space and support for individuals exploring their gender identity, and for those seeking to support someone who has identified as transgender. Services include peer support, informal discussion, assistance in finding professional services, workshops for organizations and businesses that are seeking to develop trans inclusive policies, and community support for individuals facing issues within the community in regards to awareness and understanding of transgender issues.
Spectrum: Waterloo Region's Rainbow Community Space welcomes the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Queer community, their families, friends and allies. They serve Waterloo Region, including Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and area. Services include a friendly gathering place with drop-in hours and a DVD lending library, a variety of programming including for youth and seniors, a Rainbow community calendar, and an extensive directory of community groups, events, and resources in the area.
The Professional Mentorship Program is a weekly opportunity for professional service providers across the province to call in by telephone and connect with clinicians from the Sherbourne Health Centre LGBT primary health team. The mentorship program is open to any professional (physician, nurse, social worker, mental health worker, etc.) who is already working with trans clients or who is intending to do so. Providers are invited to build knowledge, ask questions, and share experiences.
OK2BME is a set of free and confidential support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning (LGBTQ) kids and teens in Waterloo Region. Services include LGBTQ positive individual and family counselling, LGBTQ social and recreational youth group, trans/gender questioning youth group, establishing Gay-Straight Alliances and similar initiatives in local schools, consultations and collaboration, and public education and training.
AIDS Committee of Simcoe County (ACSC) is a health promotion organization focused on HIV-related issues. They offer counseling, case management, referrals, and practical support, as well as specific programs for gay and bisexual men, trans people, and LGBT Youth. Trans* Q Simcoe is a weekly social support group for trans* individuals at the Barrie office, and the LGBT Youth Connection is a drop-in social space for LGBT youth ages 14-21 with groups in Barrie, Orillia, Angus, and Collingwood.
