Initiative Espaces Positifs (IEP) de l’OCASI est heureuse d’ouvrir les inscriptions pour la session d’hiver 2024 pour le cours IEP niveau 2. Il s'agit d'un cours en ligne gratuit et autonome contenant des informations mises à jour destinées aux travailleurs d'établissement afin de servir plus efficacement les immigrants, les réfugiés et les nouveaux arrivants 2ELGBTQIA+ (2 esprits, lesbiennes, gays, bisexuels, transgenres, queer, intersexués et asexuels).

Positive Spaces Initiative (PSI) at OCASI is pleased to open the registration for the Winter 2024 session for the PSI Level 1 Course. . This is a free, self-directed, online course with updated information for settlement workers to more effectively serve LGBTQIA+(lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual) immigrants, refugees, and newcomers.

Registration opens: Wednesday, November 22, 2023

Registration deadline: Friday, January 12, 2024

A propos de ce cours

Le cours Espaces positifs pour les nouveaux arrivants LGBTQIA+ Niveau 1 est un cours en ligne gratuit, autodirigé, contenant des informations mises à jour pour les travailleurs de l'établissement afin de servir plus efficacement les immigrants, réfugiés et nouveaux arrivants LGBTQIA+ (lesbiennes, gays, bisexuels, transgenres, queers, intersexuels et asexuels).

A l'issue de la formation LGBTQIA+ Niveau 1 vous serez en mesure de:

Appliquer les principes d'un cadre anti-racisme/anti-oppression pour soutenir les immigrants, les réfugiés et les nouveaux arrivants LGBTQIA+
Démontrer une compréhension des différentes barrières et des problèmes liés à l'accès aux services pour les personnes LGBTQIA+
Se situer dans le contexte des oppressions systémiques auxquelles sont confrontés les nouveaux arrivants LGBTQIA+ afin de mieux servir les immigrants et réfugiés LGBTQIA+ vivant en Ontario en s'engageant dans une démarche d'allié
Démontrer une compréhension de vos responsabilités en tant que fournisseur de services dans le secteur de l'établissement en mettant en œuvre les meilleures pratiques pour créer et maintenir un espace positif pour les nouveaux arrivants LGBTQIA+ dans votre agence.

Critères de participation

Ce cours est ouvert aux travailleurs de l'établissement et aux prestataires de services qui travaillent dans ou avec le secteur des services aux immigrants et aux réfugiés à travers l'Ontario, et qui sont prêts à:

s'engager à consacrer environ 2 à 4 heures d'apprentissage par semaine
Participer à un groupe de discussion sur SettleNet.org, une nouvelle communauté de pratique nationale en ligne pour le secteur de l'établissement.
Effectuer les travaux dans les délais impartis.

Une fois le cours terminé avec succès, vous recevrez une attestation d'OCASI

The Bilingual Coordinator, Community Education – Positive Spaces, is tasked with training settlement professionals to support LGBTQIA+ clients and fostering inclusive environments, while also strengthening connections with organizations aiding Francophone LGBTQIA+ newcomers. They will oversee recruitment and training of Regional Champions, facilitate Regional Networks, and must demonstrate a commitment to equity and anti-oppression.

The Bilingual Coordinator, Community Education – Positive Spaces is a member of the Capacity Team and reports to the Senior Manager, Professional Development

Job type: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Salary: $51,220 plus benefits, unionized with Unifor Local 87M

Apply to Be a Champion for the Positive Spaces Initiative

What is a Positive Spaces Initiative (PSI) Champion?

A PSI Champion is someone who is passionate about advocating for LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans/two-spirit, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, and other diverse gender identities and sexual orientations) immigrants, refugees and newcomers. You don't have to be an expert on LGBTQIA+ issues in order to apply, just have a desire and capacity to learn and make a difference in your local community.

What Do Champions Do?

Champions work closely with PSI Coordinators to help contextualize our vision, mission, and resources to the needs of their region; they provide ongoing feedback and help to identify gaps that should be addressed by the initiative. Champions also hold events in their community to support LGBTQIA+ newcomers.

What Supports Do PSI Champions Receive?

Champions receive training, resources, and ongoing support from the PSI Coordinators.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

OCASI is looking for volunteer Champions who are 18 years of age or older, from diverse regions of Ontario. Anyone who has the capacity and interest to promote the Positive Spaces Initiative’s mission and vision through advocacy and events is encouraged to apply.

The Bilingual Coordinator, Community Education – Positive Spaces will be responsible for providing training and resources for settlement sector professionals to enable them to effectively recognize the needs of LGBTQIA+ clients and create inclusive spaces within their agencies. In addition, the Bilingual Coordinator, Community Education – Positive Spaces implements an outreach and promotion strategy that strengthens relationships with and amongst organizations that serve Francophone LGBTQIA+ newcomers across the province. The Bilingual Coordinator, Community Education – Positive Spaces will also be responsible for recruiting and orienting Regional Champions to lead regional activities as well developing and maintaining Regional Networks that encourage regional dialogue. The Bilingual Coordinator, Community Education – Positive Spaces will have a commitment to and awareness of equity, access to services, anti-racism and anti-oppression, gender-justice and anti-poverty as it relates to immigrants and refugees.
